5.8.8 lib/warnings hangs on NetBSD 3.1-stable?

I'm trying to compile from scratch Perl 5.8.8 BUT on "make test" it
hangs on:

lib/warnings. I get the lib/warnings..................... but then
it pauses there for over 10 minutes and I hit ^C when I get tired of
waiting.

On NetBSD 3.1-stable.





Any suggestions?
