access html control with javascript

Hi,

I've got a HTMLTable in my user control.I wrote a Javascript function and
try to edit cells in that table and I get this error:

Table1 is null or not an object.

Why can I not access html controls in user controls.If I did this a page I
can access it (document.Page_Name.Table1.cells) so there is off course no
page in user controls.I mixed up.
