acehtml and vista

T

Tony Vella

I installed Acehtml 6.05.08 on my new Vista machine and it worked perfectly
until recently. Two days ago I received a notification from Visicom telling
me I should upgrade to version 6.60.00 which is 100% Vista compatible and
that I do not need to uninstall 6.0 but simply install 6.6 on top of it. I
did just that and now I am having problems I have never had with Acehtml --
every so often it tells me the program encountered an internal problem and
must shut down. It has happened a couple of dozen times and now I'm
regretting having upgraded. Can anyone please tell this frustrated old
geezer how to get rid of 6.6 and go back to my 6.0? Thanks in advance for
all assistance.

If you have the installer of v6.0 then uninstall 6.6 and reinstall 6.0.

Otherwise (most not advisable method).
Try to do a system recovery till before you installed the upgrade.
start -> all programs -> accessory -> system workbench (something like
that) -> system recovery.

You should really contact Visicom support and ask them what the story is.
Obviously there's a problem.

I'm confused...it's Visicom's product and Visicom's problem, so why
aren't you contacting Visicom???

How about I contacted them twice already and got no reply????? Sound good
enough reason to me to try approaching the problem from a different avenue.

So you're implying that Acehtml 6.60.00 is a buggy piece of software and
the Visicom company has inferior public-support procedures...

Nah, couldn't be. However, I'd still try to get my money back just on the
infinitesmal chance that I'd made a boo boo in trusting them.

Nowhere did you state in your original posting you contacted Visicomm.

I was able to easily find their contact information, why don't you call
them on Monday - toll free?

They're French, maybe they have a holiday or something. This might be a
good opportunity to think about using a new editor.

I used AceHTML for years, then one day, I was using another computer,
needed a good free editor, found HTML-Kit [http://www.chami.com/html-
kit/], and fell in love with it. Yes, Ace has some nice features, but
HTML-Kit has so many plugins that you'll wonder what you did before, eg.
snippets, templates, server side snippets, etc.
