Alter base target through asp.net code

I need to change the target of the base of a page that is within a content
    frame.
The window has three frames, content, top and main
When the person logs in the log in section is in the content frame to the
left. If the log in is successful then the menu refreshes and the main
frame navigates to a new page, no problem. But if the log in fails I need
the content frame's target to be altered to itself instead of the main
    frame.

    Thanks for your time,
    Bubba
