And, of course, I have to also ask: how's perl6 coming along?

When maybe tryable?

Usable for personal projects?

Reliable "enough" for "real" projects?

Thanks,

David

You choose.
Reliable "enough" for "real" projects?

Pugs/Perl6 is still an alpha product, still not completely specced. It's
been 6 years since the RFC process, and in my feeling, it's just over
halfway. So: don't hold your breath.

So I guess we'll see 5.10, 5.12, 5.14, 5.16 ... <and where it stops, nobody knows> :)

Thanks!

David

PS: any idea, anyone, of when the next edition of the
O'Reilly perl6 book (nutshell?) coming out?

(Is that what you use to "learn" p6?)

I would use you 'empty' head to fill with the knowledge of Perl 6,7,8,9 !!!
If you need a book, make sure its a big one that your friends can use to
hammer down the info. When your done, then you can get a 20k/year job thats
also boasting rights around here...

We're starting to translate "Learning Perl" to "Learning Perl 6" (or
whatever we'll call it). When we get started, we'll have some project
similar to what I'm doing with Mastering Perl
(http://www.pair.com/comdog/mastering_perl) so you can see things as we
create them. :)
