In the past, I have played with "SNMP Network Discovery" windows tools
like "IP Network browser" from Solarwinds, which allows the user to
scan a subnet using SNMP broadcasts and find out the name of the
servers available, their IP addresses, the shared drives, and other
goodies.
Question: is there any similar, end-user utility but which is written
in 100% Pure Java?. I´m disappointed to find out that apparently
nobody has done a "solarwinds IP browser" like utility but in Java.
Instead, all SNMP tools I´ve found so far seem to be coded in C-C++
and in the rare instance a vendor offers a version for linux, it's
actually a port of their C/C++ windows version, or the other way around
(a unix tool ported also to windows).
Networking tools are a natural fit for Java. So.... can anyone help?.
Anyone seen any (even if basic) SNMP network discovery tool written in
Java?
Thanks!
