Hi
We are using apache as the web server and tomcat as the application
server. We are using mod-jk as the load balancer. Load is provided to 4
apaches which in turn distribute the load to 8 tomcat instances.
The MaxSpareThreads property in apache has a value of 100 and
maxProcessors has a value of 100.
The number of threads still crosses the 100 mark, under load. In some
cases goes beyond 500 and the tomcat is unable to recover.
Some questions are:
a) what is the tomcat thread limit after which tomcats become unstable?
b) what can be done to prevent tomcat threads to go beyond say 200 so
that they dont become unstable?
Any inputs around this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
