Applications for ipaq and Palm Pilot

I need to develop an application that will run on an ipaq handhelp and
possibly the Palm Pilot as well.
Can this be done in python? Do I need a special library to make it work?

I'm looking for a Python implementation for Palm but i haven't found
anything interesting. i've found only pippy
<http://pippy.sourceforge.net/> but it seems that the project doesn't
grow. The last stable version is python 1.5 :-(
