James

Recently on my list of users in Windows XP there is a
limited user for ASP.NET Machine A... that was never
there before. Since this showed up my computer is running
very slow. Can anyone tell me what this is and why it
suddenly started appearing in my user list.... THANKS
for any help.

James,

That account is created and used by the .Net framework.

It is a default account created for the ASP.Net process to run under. It is
a restricted account so that ASP.Net pages are limited in the amount of
damage that they are capable of doing. For instance, the only file writes
you can do in an ASP.Net page via this user (barring modifications to your
security policy) is to write to your profile's directory
(<machinename>\ASP.Net)
