I am looking for book(s) recommendation on how to design asp.net/c#
application from ground up using sound design pattern techniques and good
object oriented practices. Examples of projects would be great.

Check out patterns & practices site on MSDN. There is good documentation
there as to sound design patterns and principles. I learnt a lot from
the site. Unfortunately they dont have full-fledged apps that you can
take a look. However they released a sample called Global Bank that is
based on SOA. There is not much of ASP.NET stuff in it though.
