This is a book for the curious, that do not shy away from those
kind of "details" that actually are important in real world
programming.
The book starts with a description of how the compiler builds an
executable, executable/object file formats, etc.
Then we start the core subject with "Variables and objects,
pointers and addresse". Franek explains how objects are
stored in memory, big/little endianess, structure layout, and
many other things.
Later chapters include memory allocation/deallocation,
arrays, multi-dimensional arrays linked lists, chasing
memory leaks, and a chapter about threads.
All in all this is a very informative book, the style is
easy, and it explains things from the ground up.
