Button Default Focus

Hi,
is it possible to set the default focus on a submit button? I find the
focus is always on the first button (of several).
I've tried using

document.forms[0].elements["saveButton"].focus();

when the page is loaded up but after clicking on the screen the focus
is returned to the first button again.

Any help appreciated.
