cannot creat web application

i just installed visual studio.net and when i try to create a web
application i get the following error:
The web server portlet encountered the following error when attempting
to create or connect to web project located at the following URL:
http\\localhost\\webApplication1 :server or address cannot be resolved

i need help disperetly,
