Why are the headers in the menu not centered when I browse the page
https://www.scaiecat-spa-gigi.com/sv/valkommen.php

at Firefox?

The headers are centered. The luridly coloured boxes are off center.

IE and FireFox have different default values for the margin and padding
on UL and LI elements. They just happen to look the same when left
unchanged by author CSS. But if you only change some of the values you
run the risk of over riding the defaults in one browser but leaving
them alone in another.

If you set one of
ul {margin-left: }
ul {padding-left: }
li {margin-left: }
li {padding-left: }
Then you may need to set all of them.

See http://steve.pugh.net/test/test37.html for a crude demonstration.

I assume there is a little (or is it a big fat) extra message to
Luigi in the choice of colours... :)

What about my choice of colours, dorayme?
You do not like them, do you?
So , assuming we were going out I would probably not like your dresses´
colours either, would I ?

Darling! Believe me when I say that if you were going out with
me, the colour of my dresses would be the last thing on anyone's
mind, yours or even mine...

But you would certainly warn me not to use layout tables....

No, my demo was thrown together years ago (hence the references to
Netscape 4 - I wouldn't bother these days). The colours are the result
of lazy typing (i.e. after all these years my fingers automatically
type distinct "web safe" colours when needed). The fact that they're
rather Luigi-like in their luridness is pure coincidence.

I usually try and write "websafe" colours as well, so I might have made a
mistake.
Which is the colour which you are talking about?

Not much point in doing so in 2005. Of course there wasn't really much
point in doing so in 1995 but we all did anyway. said:

With the colour scheme on your site? Probably. But that's an aesthetic
matter not a technical one.

Personally, I don't find your colour scheme very attractive but I
suppose you have your reasons. Maybe you've done some market research
amongst your audience and they like the whole half-pastel/half-neon
look. Not really a very interesting topic for me.

The ones on my demo page - the yellow and bright blue.

I have a different problem just now.
Do you happen to know why Google shows this map of Italy (ITALY.gif
300 x 328 pixlar - 25k)
which is on my
website without writing the complete adress of the source?

Ok

There might well be. We call them vintage collectors.

Nobody uses anything less than 16 bit colour these days[1]

[1] If they do then the whole of the web looks funny to them, not just your
page.

Oops. Sorry Els, dorayme. I replied to LDA by mistake, I assure you. Won't
happen again ;-)

I would say all - perhaps except the amber and grey. Luridness
is a function of context and purpose. If you think of the idea
of pointlessness, you will be half way there. You have all these
bright disparate colours all over the place. Luigi, you even
have pointless borders around some of your tables and then add
further pain by actually colouring them red! The page I am
looking at is
https://www.scaiecat-spa-gigi.com/sv/faktaomitalien.php and it
is a model of colour uncoordination, it is an assault on your
fellow earthlings, it is even painful to me who is used to a lot
of red and orange. Yes, I will have a nice day and it is my
opinion and freedom is very important - but so is a bit of
colour harmony.

dorayme

PS. Luigi, I came across a joke that had your name in it. It is
an "Australian" Italian joke and depends on a couple of things
for its effectiveness, one being the way migrants to this
country quite often quickly become more "Australian" than
Australians... I mention this because one person, a Pom!, did
not get it. I just put it up at

Hello, I am under the impression that you misunderstood me.
I wanted to ask you which are the colours which I used which are not safe
html colours. I wanted to ask you that because, actually, I try to use html
safe colours.
I have already understood that we probably have different tastes at least as
much as it regards design and
colours and that´s why I was wondering why you seem to be attracted by what
I write.
Or is it something else which attracts you?
Perhaps just that we are so different?

No colours are safe in your hands Luigi! But seriously, generally: #xxyyzz;
where x, y and z is one of either 0, 3, 6, 9, C, or F

Perhaps but would you dress as you want to or as your friends want you to do
that?
This is, by the way, something important not only about dresses but also
generally speaking, about looks.
Would you have your hair blond or dark depending on what you like or what
your boy-friend likes?

Ok.
I usually search something like "html safe colours"

Ah Luigi, it is clear that it is not only colours that would /not/ be safe
in your hands!

This reminds me of a famous logical puzzle which has a clever solution that
asks a hypothetical question in order to extract information. (I better dig
it out and add it to the other one I sent you. The address will be
http://dorayme.150m.com/puzzles/liarAndTruthTeller.html)
