Class variable initializers

I'm just trying to get a picture of how class variables are initialized.

I assume it basically just runs through them in the order they appear in the
class, which is why the initializer can't refer to another class variable
further down in the class. Are they allowed to refer to class variables in
other classes? Any other restrictions?
