command line equivalent to jconsole

Hi,

Is there a command line tool that will give me some details jconsole
gives. The target app is running with jmx enabled, but I dont hav an X
session to the machine and if I try X forwarding, it is very very slow
and the gui is unresponsive to my clicks. I would love to get some
data atleast(number of active threads, for ex) from jmx without using
jconsole.
