Contact details for Eric Sosman

Dear Forum Participant:

I lead a specialist team for a large human capital placement enterprise.
We are working on behalf of a Fortune 500 company and would like to
discuss an exciting opportunity of mutual benefit with Mr Eric Sosman,
currently employed by Sun Microsystems.

In my research so far I have failed to make contact with Mr Sosman at Sun.
However I notice that he posted regularly to this forum until October 2009.

If anyone here is in contact with Mr Sosman I would be grateful to learn
his current contact details - by preference a direct-dial desk number or
business cellphone, but an email address would also be acceptable.

Thank you for your earliest attention to this matter.

You might be legitimate, but if I was Eric Sosman I'd be worried and
suspicious at this sort of approach.

I think he got laid off at Sun and was last seen pushing
a shopping cart down Rengstorff Avenue in Sunnyvale...

But would he want to be represented by a lead head-hunter who advertises
such incompetence?

Geeze, the first thing that came to my when I saw this topic was
"Someone is trying to stalk him". Now someone correct me if I'm wrong
here, but as far as I know, it's Dr. Sosman and not Mr. Sosman.

Not that I can see. He doesn't put any professional title on any of
his profiles. At least not if it is the Eric Sosman formerly at Sun,
now at another tech company of Silicon Valley ilk.

That's not meaningful. I know plenty of PhDs who don't even put
that on their business card, let alone their webpage.

Yes, it's considered a bit showy to use your title, except in very
formal settings.

A pity, I rather like being a Dr.

That's some fancy logic there...I guess I'm also a PhD because
I don't put it on MY webpage...also, correct me if I'm wrong, but
as far as I know, the girl that bagged my groceries yesterday
also has a doctorate, because her name tag didn't say "Dr. Pam"...
"Am I missing something?"
--Dan Pop

If you're missing a "Dr." in front of your name, it means
you HAVE a PhD...and by the same logic, if you brag about it,
you're probably a liar...

I can't follow this "logic." He never said everyone without a title
is just hiding theirs. He said that people with titles tend to hide
them.

Clearly, you're not a PhD or you would have followed this. :)

How did you get from Ben Pfaff's "Some people who have X don't do Y" to
what you seem to have read: "All people who don't do Y have X"?

Well, it is your logic and no one else's.

I think the OP was trying to be formal since he/she addressed him as
Mr. Sosman.

Yeah, I know, it's illogical, that's the point...it's
called a "joke", son, but you know what they say: it's
funny cuz it's true...
He never said everyone without a title
is just hiding theirs.  He said that people with titles tend to hide
them.
I think I know now why you're having trouble following this, it's
a basic reading comprehension problem...DR. Pfaff (hey, we're all
PhDs on this bus!) DIDN'T say that, he said that SOME people don't
publicize their doctorates on CERTAIN documents, therefore he would
not accept similar evidence as dispositive in his challenge to
"correct"
his completely unfounded assertion about Dr. Sosman's educational
attainment level...
Clearly, you're not a PhD or you would have followed this.  :)
We don't know whether I have a PhD or can run a sub-4 minute mile,
according to Dr. Ben Pfaff logic (CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG!)...lacking
ANY evidence of either is sufficient to make the
assertions, but better if they are furthermore illogically buttressed
by a challenge to the reader to prove a negative...

Remember, he never presented ANY evidence as to why he would
"think" the individual had a PhD, then went on to declare further
lack of evidence of a PhD as insufficient to "prove" he DIDN'T
have a PhD...are you aware of how actual human beings determine
a person's educational attainment on planet Earth? Compare
and contrast...Dr. Pfaff's diploma-by-assertion mill reminds
me more of:

Moe: Doctor.
Larry: Doctor.
Curly: Doctor.
Larry: Doctor.
Moe: Doctor.
Curly: Doctor.
Larry: Doctor.

Yes, there does seem to be a basic reading comprehension problem here.

Ben Pfaff made no assertion of any sort about Eric Sosman's education
level. I can't imagine how you managed to read his words to believe he did.

You are wrong. Ben Pfaff's logic would say that we don't have any
evidence whether or not your claims are true. In particular, finding
information about you which did not mention either of these things would
not in general prove they are untrue.
Remember, he never presented ANY evidence as to why he would
"think" the individual had a PhD, then went on to declare further
lack of evidence of a PhD as insufficient to "prove" he DIDN'T
have a PhD...

Ben Pfaff pointed out that not claiming a PhD in public profiles does
not necessarily mean that a person does not have a PhD; that's the
entirety of what he said about the matter.
are you aware of how actual human beings determine
a person's educational attainment on planet Earth?

Yes. Are you?

That is, for the record, all I meant to say.
