Data warehousing/business intelligence (DW/BI) consulting company (we
are NOT recruiters) seeks independent contractors with testing
expertise for multiple large agile data warehousing projects. Current
opportunities in U.S. Mid West and Southwest, plus Australia.
Responsibilities:
•provide project leadership through testing for an Agile team
•validate and verify DW/BI applications prior to promotion
•discover and communicate where current app builds are not complete
and correct
•guarantee relational integrity, correctness of business rules, and
reconciliation to source
•draft QA plans for DW/BI projects
•develop and maintain test suites
•guide agile teammates on writing test cases that each role should
provide
•gather, modify, and manage multiple sets of source data and expected
results
•draft and orchestrate final release certification test runs
•represent candidate build quality during operational readiness
reviews
•install, manage, and customize database testing software
•interface testing software with other development tools
•coordinate product enhancements with testing software vendor
Required Qualifications:
•well versed in a standard, general IT testing approach
•experience with creating test cases for DW/BI applications
•experience with very large databases (0.5TB up)
•strong in SQL and SQL scripting (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2 a plus)
•experience with current testing tools (dbFit, Selenium, or HP QC a
plus)
•experience with test case and bug tracking tools (Atlassian suite a
plus)
•experience with test automation
•experience with configuration management tools
•high comfort level in Linux and Unix environments
•strong programming skills with modern scripting languages, especially
Unix shells and Ruby
•experience integrating tools such as testing packages and issue
trackers
•excellent English speaking and writing skills
•professional presence with strong interpersonal skills and dedicated
work ethic
Desired Qualifications:
•knowledgeable of agile methods and how testing must be adapted for
them
•experience configuring web applications on Apache and PostgreSQL (or
MySQL)
