Creating ASP.NET projekt within existing ASP project

I have several classic ASP projects running on Webserver. I would like to
implement some .net functionalities. Because I need the references I have to
"upgrade" the existing ones wit a new .net webproject.
I've made some tests but it does not work.

If I setup a new Webproject and define e.g. http://server1/web1 to store the
project, it fails creating. Creating new projects into folders that don't
exist also fails.

Creating Web Projects on localhost works.

Error message is something like:
The default Web access mode for this project is set to file share, but the
project folder at 'http://www.Website/tests'cannot be opened with the
path '\\Website\wwwroot$\tests'. The error returned was:

Unable to create Web project 'tests'. The UNC share
'\\Website\wwwroot$\tests' does not exist or you do not have access.
What would you like to do?
(radio button) Retry using a different file shar path [ ENTER FIELD ]
(radio button) Try to open the project with FrontPage Server Extensions
{OK} {Cancel} {Help}

Selectiing Frontpage brings up msg that default access mode for this project
is Frontpage.(??) Error Message is: NOT FOUND (????)
After that the opeertunity to open via File Share remains.

I remember some years ago it was possible to create webs on other servers
using http://........ and Frontpage and it worked great.

What should I do to get this functionality back??
