Defining JBOSS Datasource in a WAR?

I want to define a JBOSS datasource in the WAR. The plan is to add the
datasource to the JBoss 3.2.3 server when the WAR is deployed. I tried
putting the datasource xml file at the root of the WAR, but this
doesn't seem to work (it does work in a JAR). Can someone explain how
to define a datasource in a deployed WAR for JBoss 3.2.3.
