DMA ipif plb

Hi @all!
I'm working on a project with a Virtex2Pro and have to transfer data with DMA.
After I've made some practice in register reading, writing and activating interrupts, now I want to make a small example transfering data to the RAM.
I already read different papers from xilinx, but I don't understand DMA right.
Have anybody hint's, simple examples or any documents describing DMA?
