Does <a target="_blank" get a new tab or new window?

When I do the above in IE7 I get a second IE opened, but in FireFox I get a
second tab.



Is it possible which happens or is that built into the browser?

This is dependent on the browser, and the user's settings. In Firefox you
can choose whether these open in a new tab or a new window. I think in IE
the default is to open in a new window. Don't know if you can set it to
open in a new tab (don't use IE).

Basic rule, don't assume anything!
