Dr. Dobbs and other periodicals?

Fellow programmers, I was wondering what computer-related perdiodicals
or journals you subscribe to. Dr Dobbs must be high on the list,
but what else is there? IT fluff like Information Week? Academic
non sequitors like IEEE or ACM?

None. My job as a Java programmer is well-defined and restricted enough
that I manage to write production-level code straight from a University
undergraduate background.

I subscribe to Dr Dobbs (have for many years), Linux Journal,
Computer Shopper (I like toys). Nothing else computer related.
If you work in the Microsoft world, MSDN is very useful, and
Windows Magazine can be helpful at times as well.

For general C and C++ journals, there's Overload (see www.accu.org)
and the C/C++ Users Journal (see www.cuj.com)

I have been subscribing to CUJ for a couple years now and love every issue.
I have made some good friends (authors of articles) in the industry from it.

It is mostly geared toward C++ (ie. templatized/generic programming), with
little of C. Each month has some kind of theme, the Linux issue was great.

Have you looked or browsed "C/C++ Users Journal" or MSDN magazine
www.cuj.com etc

I have had work published in CACM and do not consider it as an "academic
non-sequitur". And also, believe me, there *is* a peer review like you
wouldn't believe. I have also had works in "lighter" publications and it is
much easier. But the review process tends to dilute or water down the
author's real opinions on things - giving the end product an ethereal
quality.
