Execute WebHandler from another page

Is it possible to execute a WebHandler (ashx file) from another page
(or another WebHandler) and return the contents?

I am aware of using WebRequest and HttpWebResponse but wouldn't that be
an extra overhead? I assume the current users credentials aren't passed
on either?
