i want to add some features to openoffice(write application) to match
    my application's needs.
generally what i want is to allow the document to contain some objects
(similar to tables) that are defined by my application. these object
should render them selve's and will be tagged with some information
which needs to be extracted later. user will interact with the objects
similar to the way they interact with stuff like, tables, text boxes,
    etc.

i do not have a clue about where to start. specifically im wondering
whether it has a extensible framwork, so that we can define new
shapes, new tool bar buttons, menues, handle mouse and keyboard
events, etc. i really need to know some good starting points and hope
    someone can help out.

    thanks

Clealy, not in c.l.c++. I even thought that OOo was all Java until
    this morning.

Wikipedia is usually a good starting place for an overview and links
about projects like that. Or google if it fails.
