failover for out of proc session service

can someone point me to some docs on best practices for setting up the out of proc services for failover. right now we have an out of process session service running. if it goes down, what is the best way to failover to a new session service? or should we go the sql server route and use our sql server cluster (do we need to replicate the schemas? thanks.
