Cant we request Google to take some action against the spam mails and
spammers.
Really even I'm fed up of these spams. I am using Thunderbird but not
able to create solid spam filter...

A somewhat contrarian view, not my own [*], but IMO interesting
and worth considering: In order for Google's archives to be valid
*as* archives, don't they need to be as inclusive as possible?
which, unfortunately, means including spam and other assorted junk.
[*] No, I don't remember where I read it.
Unfortunately, this kind of inclusivity is not what many of us
want in a news server/provider. Maybe that means Google can't
play both roles (archive and provider), or that it needs to
somehow separate the two functions??
Just a thought. I'll go back to lurking now.

I too stopped using Google Groups since all spam originates from them. I
use PAN.
But I can not find a way to search the last 10-20 years archives. If I
want to search for some question before I post it, I always have to go
to Google Groups since they are the only one who have made the archives
available. any replacement ?

I have tried that. They do NOT care at ALL. Yesterday, I have also removed
the gmail account I had

The problem is with Google Groups. To avoid the spam, use a different
news server.

If this is a real issue, there is an easy solution: tag spam
instead of excluding it entirely, and don't show articles tagged
as spam by default.

Well, as they respect the no archive flag, it doesn't seem like that is
a goal of theirs. And even if they want to archive spam, it doesn't
mean they have retransmit it.
They are the primary spam vector. The behavior is in no way defensible.

Blaming Google for the death of privacy
seems like blaming Glock for murders. The
game was lost before Google even existed, for
example when California's DMV sold its data
commercially. (It argued that it had a moral
obligation to taxpayers to monetize this data.)
I suppose I'm a "Googlemaniac": I use it for my
searches; gmail works quite fine for me; if I
had a better way to post, I'd still be likely to use
Google Groups for browsing or searching Usenet.
There is good news for the non-Googlers who
complain about Google Groups interface:
you don't know how bad it is! Sometimes, while
posting, the window will have 7 or 8 distinct
scroll bars, and I'll have to use 2 of them
just to scroll to where the scrollbars I really need
are, then scroll back to the input area.
Perhaps the most laughable part of Google Group's
interface concerns the "@" sign. If you
write "600 balloons@2 cents" I, as a Google Groups user,
will need to pass a mini-Turing test to read the
word "balloons"!! This is because Google fears I'm
a bot trying to accumulate your addresses.
Obviously such bots will bypass Google when reading
Usenet, but Google is apparently so megalomaniac
that it views Usenet as a tiny part of the greater
Groups over which it has control. The funny/sad
irony is that, while you guys add "Remove"
strings to your e-mail addresses, G-Groups won't
let us do that.
BTW: I don't have Internet at home and have no-
where to telnet into. I used to post Usenet
messages using, IIRC, something like
Pnews -raw
It should be an easy matter to create an html
form that would transfer input to Pnews, or
equivalent. Anyone care to do this for me?
(Stubborn of me to not have home Internet, perhaps,
since satellite dishes now make it easy even where
I live, but I know it would end up being a big
distraction from my pleasant retirement with
young kids and wife.)

When I need to search for a question ranging back to posted
10 years ago, I have to open Google Groups. Do we have any replaement like
we have PAN as a replacement for posting using Google groups ?
