Gridview edit button selecting different row

Hi there,

How come, when using default settings on a gridview which has a stored
procedure as it's datasource's selectcommand, do I have to sort the
stored procedure in order to have the edit button select the appropriate
row?

Surely it should know which row I clicked, and choose the right one
based on more than the original order when selecting the records?
