Gridview with a single insert edit and delete button

I've been given a task to remove the edit and delete buttons from each
row of the gridview and have one edit, insert, and delete button at
the very top (outside of the grid). What they want is for the user to
be able to click anywhere on the grid row to select the row and then
to either edit or delete that selected row by clicking the button at
the top. Canceling the edit will also be done at the top. Are there
any samples of this? I haven't seen anything like this being done
    with a gridview.

    Thanks for any info.
