help with thumbs please

Hi all, Quick fix for someone with CSS skills:
The page looks ok but doesn't work as it should on my browsers I have.
Safari Doesn't refresh the newly opened window, Explorer does.

Ideally, I'd like to have the drawings open up in the same page.
I could float a box (500x600) in the top right corner that changes its
background image.
This, I don't know how to implement.
I've googled for days on this one.
Eric Meyer's solution has been applied, but I messed it up and
reverted to this (for ease).

Any suggestions on the code?

Just incase anyone is interested.
I finished it off before this message registered on google.
Using targetted links to open the images in a named iframe.
It works like a charm but doesn't validate yet.
