How do I get a custom Control Designer to write to the HTML of my control?

I have created a custom 'Control Designer' that provids a popup dialog
for entering more complex properties (such as property builder in the
data grid). Once a I have a property defined I can't seem to get the
values back to my control. I want to add additional tags to the HTML
    to hold these values.

A good example of what I'm trying to do is the dataGrid. When I put it
on a page I get the dataGrid tags in the HTML view (<asp:DataGrid>). I
then go to property builder and add a data bound column. This adds the
<Columns> tag and a <asp:BoundColumn> tag to the HTML for my control.

How do I get my 'property builder' to write back to the HTML of my
    control?

  2. Sounds like a VS.Net integration issue? Perhaps better posted there?
