How to find the Textbox text length. . . .

i have a textbox with the max 5000 char and if the user reaches to the max
he should be alerted with an msg displaying "reaced to max".
i tried to do this by TextBox1_TextChanged but i was failed.
please can any one help me

You need to do this in JavaScript. Try using some JS events like
onkeypress.
