How to use Findbugs 1.1 (as compared to say .95)

I've used FindBugs .95 for several months and have been very pleased.
Never neededing to read documentation and being able to get a usable
report within minutes of download was a good thing.

I've downloaded 1.1 and 1.1.1, read documentation and still cannot get
these versions to do what I want. Frankly, they appear to be very
buggy (running on Windows XP).

My problems with Findbugs 1.1:
A) It analyzes way more classes than I want it to. I want it to
analyze classes in one specific jar and there no longer seems to be an
input for giving Findbugs a jar. In .95 one gave three inputs: A) jar
to examine B) source directory C) classpath. In 1.1 one is to give: A)
main project directory B) auxillary classes C) source directory.
Assuming auxillary classes means classpath I have lost the ability to
specifiy the jar to be examined.

B) I am having trouble saving and then opening a project. However I
save the project it does not show up to be opened. Only directories
appear in the open dialog. I've selected all files filter and still
only directories show.

C) None of the GUI buttons in the JTree seem to work.

D) Briefly exploring the new analysis results I see more false
positives. Admitably I did not explore the analysis results that much
(because the program does not work correctly).

------------

I would like to use Findbugs 1.1 . Some of the new features it
promises, like annotating found problems seem good. However currently
it apperas Findbugs 1.1 is bad to the point where it is not utilizable.

------------

I'll pass these comments to Findbugs dev team. Wondering if anyone
else has had more success.

Blazingly fast reply from Findbugs guys. I sent them this post and
received multiple replies within minutes.

Solutions:
A) parameter -gui1 provides previous gui with previous inputs
B) the file to load is the directory containing saved files
D) FindBugs has been shown to have fewer false positives

---

C) I've provided clarifing info. Resolution in progress.

Resolution for last point. Those are not buttons they are draggable
items.

The only remaining item is that Findbugs 1.1 gui analyzes more code
than I want analyzed. Findbugs .95 gui let me specify jar to analyze
instead of project directory.

Now, with this new knowledge, Findbugs is quite usable. And not buggy
at all. I simply didn't get the new interface. The documentaiton on
Findbugs site is for previous gui.
