IIS6 - Default content page

Hi,
We have an asp 1.1. app with a number of subdirectories, but still part of
the same app.
One of these directories is now to have a couple of plain html files in
them, so I diligently look at the directory properties dialog in IIS manaer
to look at the documents tab.
I've removed index.aspx (which used to be there) and have now added
index.html, which is the new file to be used instead.
Alas you get the 'directory listing denied' message when entering the
directory from the browser. Its amost as if it is ignoring the default
document for the directory.

Does anyone have any bright ideas?
Many thanks in advance..
Andy

You do not have to remove files, you simply have to add files and put the
"main" file at the top of the list. Not sure why you are getting file not
found, but I would look at the web server log for this virtual directory.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
I've found the logs but can't really see anything which may be of se, though
having said that I don't really know what I'm looking for.
Also, how do I see if the anonymous user has got permission to see my html
file?

Sorry, but thanks for the pointers so far... much appreciated.

The file permissions I am talking about are the file system permissions.
Just open the properties for the file in windows explorer and check the
security tab.
