IIs7: "enable parent paths" disabled by default why?

    Moving webs to new server with 2008. I a couple of pages that use ASP to
    include a menu.

    Investigating the server error I learn IIS7 has "enable parent paths"
    disabled by default.

    Why?

    Is this security issue?
