Image Processing to identify human body in video.

Hi all,

We are doing some research on video based people counting system. my
requirment is to process the video and identify the human body in the
video/image and count the total number of people in video.

People did lots of research on the same. They have implemented diffrent
algorithm for the same. I want to do the same in java. But i dont kwon
how to start. i have video input using CCTV is there to process, but i
dont know how to start.

How to process the video/image using java. JMF will be usefull in image
processing. But i dont know what all packges (available packages) i can
use?

If anyone can help me and guide me on the same, i'll be very much
thankful.
