Image stacking

S

Samuel Marin

Hi.

In an attempt to make a nice menu, I sliced horizontally a picture
containing the different links. I get 6 pictures, each one a part of the
full image.
I used javascripting - not my own code - to show an altered image on the
MouseOver event.

My problem is: if I just stack the pictures, they will fit nicely and
recreate the full picture, but when I associate an anchor to each of the
6 images, they are separated by a couple of pixel lines, thus breaking
my full picture.

Does anyone know an easy workaround? Thanks.

If I was not clear enough, you can have a look at the site being

HEY SPAMMERS HIT THIS WEBSITE PLEASE, THANKS

My God, this is worse than the last site I critiqued!!!!! Ok, not
really, but it is still amateur at best.

Ok, lets talk. First. LOOK AT THE COMPETITION!!!!! WTF is wrong
with newbe's lately???? Look at what your competition is doing.
LEARN do I have to say it again?

L E A R N from the competition!!!!!!

Jesus, your using FRAMES!!! Do you not pay attention at all? First,
unless you HAVE to (and you don't) DON'T use frames!!! Your site
sucks. Just plain and simple it sucks. Who the hell gives people
permission to think you can create website when all they can do is
produce shit like this? (though I do have to admit it is better than
the last one I looked at, but not much).

Here is my sugestion. Start over. Give yourself 2 weeks of looking at
this group. LISTEN to what the experts say (who are the experts?
Jukka, Doraymke, Nerrobous (how ever you spell his name) Then look at
your competition. and learn from their mistakes.

for crying out loud people WTF is with these newbies???? Look. Take
a week off. do nothing but studying design and syntax. Then make
your site. It will only take you a week or two to get better. LEARN
from your competition!!!!!

Man I am tired of seeing SHIT on the web. Come on people!!!!

If ya think that site is bad, try this one.

I kind of agree that frames suck in some situations, but when you
frame it like he does AND include flash, that really sucks.

Newbees don't know enough to get tangled up with flash. So he's
probably had some experience writing code but hasn't learned his
lesson yet on when not to do something.

Na, Flash is great. (but you have been around long enough that you
knew I would say that didn't you?)

Alright, guys. Never thought that a newbie question would rouse so much.

First, let me put things right. I AM a near absolute newbie and I do NOT
intend to progress much. I do NOT have time for that; I do NOT have any
talent for it; I am NOT thinking of making a penny out of this kind of
work. I am just and ONLY helping out a friend in need, very thankful
that he will not pay a penny for a website that 10 people will visit
every year.
About the green background, that is just a bug in my css, which I would
love to correct, but haven't had time to work on up to now. It does show
a background image locally but not remotely. Strange for me. I also
discovered the java applet I was using was shareware and not freeware.
It does not show locally. I also intend not to use the Flash animation.
I just put it there to have a look at a better font than just serif, and
see how it goes.
I do believe someone as intelligent as Travis will easily notice that
this site is just being written. Anything is subject to any change any time.

I have to thank many of you who have taken their time to offer some
help. I will read that carefully and see if I can make something out of
it but I'm afraid what I've seen is beyond my capabilities.

P.S: Travis, is there a competition? I hadn't noticed. Do you get a
prize? Well if you win, you may as well win a web design for your site.

Sam.

While I'm around, I have another question, if you please.

In this image-stacking menu I would like the arrows to stay in position
when clicked but could not achieve this tinkering with the
onMouseThisorThat events. Is there an easy way at my reach?

Thanks again.

Travis, I find lots of results, mostly pertaining to posts you have made in
various blogs/forums. I can find only one reference to a site apparently
developed by you:http://www.theschmitzhouse.com. I get a 404 when I try to
launch it.

Never heard of that site.
How about making it easy for this old man...provide a site you were paid to
develop, or alternatively, provide the URI of a site you built and are proud
of.

Sorry, Your just going to have to look some more. If you really care
you'll keep lookng.

I don't do websites, I do pieces of websites. Mostly Flash and Flash
applications usually dealing with video.

Well, when you're in a blunt mood... why don't you write you're own
tutorials for us newbies? You wouldn't waste your time on newsgroups and
I would love to have more than ten hours a year to learn Flash.

-Oh? Are these two different things? I must go to bed really soon. The
kids will wake me up in five hours. Pfew.

I'm not interested in dealing with your pomposity. And, since you seem to
have nothing to contribute to this group, but inappropriate vulgar
blathering, I'll say good bye.

Oh well, bye
