<img height=100%> problem in Explorer

H

Hostingforabuck

I have the height attribute set for 100% for an image in a cell,
because I would like the image to stretch the entire hight of the cell.
This works in firefox, but for some reason, it is not working in
internet explorer. I have searched and been unable to find any clues.
Can this be done in a variable, or will I have to manually set the
height attribute for every time I use this image.

The url is http://www.hostingforabuck.com/serverstatus.htm
Thanks in advance

Figured it out. Using a stylesheet background with repeat. now to see
if I can get it to work dynamically for all my pages.

Why do you want to set the height to 100% when it already is?
Changing the size of an image either directly in the tag, or in the style,
causes the server to figure out what to do with the image, and slow down the
process of loading.
Use a thumbnail and link to the larger image.
Most thumbnails will take up no more than 10kb of space.

Its because I use the same image on all the different pages. This way
it only needs to be loaded once.

I would like to suggest that it is the browser that does the work of
rendering the image as the server has no way of knowing what dimensions
the viewport or container space the image is being displayed in.

The server will still just serve the requested image regardless.

Just letting everyone know that I took someone's advice (I forget who)
and looked into the hosting at the above user's site. I found the
site to be easy to navigate and had no hidden fees, lots better stuff
than the host I have two other websites on, and Mike is so much easier
to work with than almost any other internet person in a tech support
position I have ever encountered. He worked with me for almost a day
to help me get my domain name transferred and the DNS name correct in
the old host, and he had seemingly infinite patience for a newbie at
back end DNS stuff. The CPanel options are exceptional, far better
than the other host I use, and his options for the different prices
are better.

In short, whoever recommended this should be heaped with praise, and
also Mike at www.hostingforabuck.com for running a superb outfit.

Just thought I'd let everyone know; now back to my studies of CSS and
HTML-kit. :)

Did Mike point you to his daughters web site?? I just 'leased space' on his
system and like you I was thoroughly impressed. He's up at 2 AM and 2 PM
(don't think he ever sleeps - but with a baby in the house that's to be
expected, I guess) and willing to go the extra to help.

Shameless plug - maybe, but he's one guy who deserves the plug!

I haven't seen that site, maybe he'd be willing to offer a link
privately if he's unwilling to post it to the world? I have lots of
pics of my daughter on my other website, pixelmeow.com, that I offer
in trade...

Exactly, which is why I just had to write this for all to see.

And another thanks for a good chuckle while browsing your site, and
the pointers to other very valuable sites that I have bookmarked for
learning. :)

You're going to need another server just for her photos by the time she's 2.
Cute kid Mike.

Thanks D...

People say she looks like...but then how can she be cute?
It must be one of those oxymorons....
