in search of an encoding guess module

does exist in ruby an Encode::Guess like the one available in Perl ?

i've seen that exist in Rast but i'm unable to install it on MacOS X
because of :

checking Berkeley DB version... configure: error: 4.2.52 is required

even if i've allready installed THAT precise version :
ls -al /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib/
drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 204 Mar 26 10:03 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1301688 Mar 26 10:03 libdb-4.2.a
-rwxr-xr-x 1 yvon yvon 784364 Mar 26 10:00 libdb-4.2.dylib
-rw-r--r-- 1 yvon yvon 814 Mar 26 10:00 libdb-4.2.la
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 15 Mar 26 10:03 libdb-4.dylib ->
libdb-4.2.dylib
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1301688 Mar 26 10:03 libdb.a
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 15 Mar 26 10:03 libdb.dylib ->
libdb-4.2.dylib

and also even after doing symlinks between /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib
and /usr/lib....

i'd like not to stay with an hybrid solution calling perl script from
ruby...
