Inserting default value into a databound textbox

I am using Visual Studio, C# and am connecting to a SQL database.

I have a TextBox within the InsertItemTemplate of my DetailsView which
is databound for when i insert a new record into the database.

Is there a way I can insert a value by default (e.g. today's date) into
the textbox which the user could either then choose to use or overwrite
before submitting to the database. I can't seem to do this without
removing the databinding.
