inverting custom cursor

Is it possible to create a custom cursor which inverts the display ?
When I use createCustomCursor I only get cursors which paint their image on
the background.
When I use the "stock" cursor Cursor.CROSSHAIR_CURSOR I get a cursor that
inverts the background, which is preferable in many cases because the cursor
could become invisble otherwise.
So does anyone know a method to create your own inverting cursor ?
