Is it possible to override DropDownList BorderStyle, BorderColor?

I created a custom control by inherting from DropDownList. I created override
properties for BorderStyle and BorderColor. And I am just calling render
method on the base class. In my test harness page, BorderStyle or BorderColor
properties do not have any effect.

Is it possible to override these properties at all. I appreciate your
response.
