is the profile object available in authenticaterequest?

For ASP.NET 2, is the Profile object available in the AuthenticateRequest?

In the days of V1.1, the forms authentication ticket was a place to store
certain information because the session object was not available in the
AuthenticateRequest (or so I believe).

In V2, when are the profile and session objects available?

(its all so different these days)
Thanks
Jason
