Is there a best approach to understanding delivered XML?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on how to get going
with analyzing XML. The situation: I've been given a ball of XML code
and am just now learning XML. The files are a variety of different
types i.e. dtd, prf, sad, scd.

I've been told these files are used to define a CORBA application.

Is there a best way to approach getting an understanding of what
information is in these files?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
