If your hosting service can run PHP, it's not terribly hard to set up
some blog software like postNuke

Yes, that's what I said.

then you've got a really slick site that people can log into and
add their stories and comments also if you want to go that far.

How would installing postNuke automagically make the site 'slick' ?

Different strokes for different folks. Some people think blogs are
really slick. They prefer them. That is what is so great about the
Internet, you can find sites that present content in the manner that you
prefer.

As it should.

I didn't know my blog is "slick" just by being a blog.

I just meant that it comes with all kinds of columns to put things in
and polls and features, login, comments, etc. so it does as many tricks
as any huge professional news web site. Compared to stumbling through
basic coding to make a really simple page. Some blogs are simply one
chronological list of entries but PostNuke has all kinds of categories
and bells & whistles. It can be a little overwhelming also and though
many things are adjustable it's really hard to get exactly what you want
if you aren't willing to accept what's been set up as the default. Once
you are happy with the setup though, adding content on a regular basis
is a breeze.
