Java IRDA API

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience transferring data over an infrared IO port?
Specifically, I am looking for a way to access the IR port on a Tablet PC
running Windows XP, though a multi-platform API would be best. Or can I use
the Java Communications package? If so, how do I get a handle on that port?
Running the Java Communications demo app on my machine, it only sees the two
serial ports and one parallel port. The machine actually has 2 serial
ports...I am not sure which port it is calling a parallel port. There is a
firewire port, 2 USBs and the IR. My guess is that the firewire port shows
up as a parallel.

Anyway, if anyone can point me in the right direction to get some IR data
transfer going, I'd sure appreciate it.
