My recent research has shown that JavaPro is defunct. I also don't
know of any print publication.

That's too bad. It was a good magazine while it lasted.

Paper magazines and newspapers are folding left and right. It just
costs too much to print and mail. You might find old editions of Java
Report in the local library.

Hmm. Perhaps what is needed is a format for distributing electronic
magazines.

I would be a combination of HTML, Kindle and PDF and Flash.

They would have flexible layout like HTML so you could display on both
small and large screens to take it with you on the bus or train.

It would have ultra high res colour animated interactive ads to
compete with the last of the print mags.

Somebody once calculated the New York Times could afford to give every
subscriber a Kindle in place of paper delivery to save on newsprint,
printing and delivery costs. Magazines are even more expensive to
deliver per page than newspapers.

It might be delivered as a DVD with additional last-minute content
arriving via a Kindle-like wireless network. Imagine being able to
quietly correct errata AFTER publication or insert a very late
breaking story for instant publication. Like a website with
notifications. The lines would blur further between website, TV,
movies and print.
