Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions (KTPA), a division of Kaplan, Inc., is

KTPA is searching for a Programmer Analyst to work in our New York City
Office. As an integral member of the Kaplan Test Prep Development team,
the Programmer Analyst will design and implement high-quality Java
applications. These applications are built with Java on ATG Dynamo and
J2EE-compliant platforms. Active participation in all phases of the
software development lifecycle is required.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver high-quality code in a timely manner
- Apply object-oriented analysis and design techniques
- Adhere to functional and technical specifications and develop within
a multi-tiered architectural framework
- Quickly understand business requirements and be able to adapt in an
evolving business environment
- Apply analysis and problem-solving skills
- Apply communication skills, both written and oral
- Work cooperatively in a team of other software developers, business
analysts and QA analysts
- Apply project estimation skills to aid in project planning

Requirements:

- 2+ years hands-on Java development, ideally involving J2EE
technologies (EJBs, JMS, JSPs, servlets) and application servers such
as JBoss or ATG Dynamo.
- Demonstrable OOA&D experience
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of multi-tiered
web-based application development
- Must be able to demonstrate strong Java development skills
- Experience coding SQL queries and PL/SQL functions and procedures
- Experience using XML in an application
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- B.S. degree required; major in Computer Science or equivalent is a
plus
