Javascript IP Mailer

Isaac Grover

Hi everyone,

If this is even possible, I am looking for Javascript that notes a
user's DNS name, i.e. 4-25-243-19.chicago.level3.net, and emails me
with basic information like browser, OS, referer, etc. Because I
don't access to the server logs (host is Win2K running IIS), I would
like to create pseudo-server logs on my end so I can see what my
visitors are doing.

If there are two separate scripts that do each task independently,
that's fine. I know enough Javascript to combine them into one.

The site in question is
http://users.myexcel.com/igrover/wednesday-recordings/ .

Thanks in advance,
Isaac

Sorry, but I don't think this is possible. Sending arbitary email from
client's machines would be considered an invasion of privicy anyway.

Why not put a tiny, invisible image on the page, hosted on a box you have
access to? A 1pixel square transparent gif is less than a k, so a desktop
computer would do as the server and if it wen't down the users won't miss
much anyway.

Not possible. The browser security model prevents this sort of thing.
