have been dropped.
The ratio of the useful to the superfluous is likely to be variable,
depending on the application that the code is put to (plus how
interdependent the code is). I would bet that there is absolutely nothing
in the Yahoo libraries, for example, that is superfluous in the context
in which Yahoo employ them, while for anyone else using them there may be
a great deal that could be omitted without impacting on end result.
Gem to turd ration is much more likely to express the ratio of good code
to dubious code, inefficient implementations, incomplete and ill thought
out logic, half-ass hacks and bad ideas.
